Ingredients

  • 1 rack of ribs membrane removed (see note for tips)
Spice Rub:
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
BBQ Sauce:
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce recommendation: Bulls-Eye West Hickory for a smoky twist

Equipment

Method

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Begin by removing the membrane on the back of the ribs for the most tender texture (see note below for tips on how to do this).
  2. Make the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine all the spice rub ingredients.
  3. Season the Ribs: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the spice rub, pressing it in for maximum flavor.
  4. Bake Low and Slow: Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 2 ½ hours until tender and juicy.
  5. Caramelize with BBQ Sauce: Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully open the foil. Brush generously with BBQ sauce. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and broil the ribs for 5-6 minutes to let the sauce thicken and caramelize.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Slice the ribs, serve, and enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth goodness!

Notes

Note: To remove the membrane, slide a knife under the thin layer on the back of the ribs, then pull it away in one piece – this ensures the ribs are tender and soak up the flavors.
