- Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor and blend until they are finely crushed, forming a crumb-like consistency.
- Combine with Cream Cheese: Transfer the crushed Oreos into a mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese to the bowl with the crushed Oreos. Using a spatula or a hand mixer, thoroughly combine the Oreos and cream cheese until a smooth and uniform mixture forms. This might take a few minutes of mixing to ensure that there are no lumps of cream cheese remaining.
- Transfer to a pan & shape: Once the mixture is well combined, line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy removal later. Transfer the Oreo and cream cheese mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly and pressing it down firmly into the bottom of the pan. This forms the base layer for your truffles.
- Harden the mixture: Place the pan in the freezer and chill for about 30 minutes, or until the mixture has firmed up.
- While the mixture is chilling, prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or wax paper.
- Once the Oreo mixture has chilled and is firm to the touch, remove it from the freezer. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, carefully cut out 16 little hearts from the chilled Oreo mixture.
- Cut out the hearts: Gently press down on the cookie cutter to ensure clean edges. Transfer the cut-out hearts onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out evenly.
- Prepare the Chocolate: Melt some chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler, stirring occasionally until smooth and fully melted. You can use dark, milk, or white chocolate according to your preference.
- Coat each Truffle: Using a fork or dipping tool, carefully dip each heart-shaped truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring that it is fully coated. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the coated truffle back onto the baking sheet.
- Decorate: While the chocolate coating is still wet, you can decorate the truffles with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or any other toppings of your choice. Get creative with your decorations!
- Chill the Truffles: Once all the truffles are dipped and decorated, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate coating to set completely. This will take about 30 minutes.
- Serve & Enjoy: Once the chocolate coating has hardened, your Oreo cheesecake truffles are ready to be enjoyed! Serve them as a sweet treat for yourself or package them up to give as gifts to friends and family.
Notes
Pro tip: to make pink chocolate add red food coloring to white chocolate.
