Mix well & bake for 1 hour!
- Prepare the Bread
Tear the baguette into small, bite-sized breadcrumbs and set aside in a large mixing bowl. - Cook the Sausage
Heat the lard or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the smoked and Italian sausages until browned and fully cooked, about 10–15 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a plate, leaving the drippings in the skillet. - Deglaze & Sauté the Veggies
To the same skillet, add the beer and butter, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes. Add the onions, celery, and 1 teaspoon salt, and sauté until softened and translucent, about 8–10 minutes. - Season the Broth
In a separate bowl, combine 4 cups of hot water with garlic powder, smoked paprika, vegetable seasoning, and 2 teaspoon salt. Stir until dissolved. - Assemble the Stuffing
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a 9x13” baking dish, combine the breadcrumbs, cooked sausage, and sautéed vegetables. Pour the seasoned broth evenly over the mixture, tossing gently to combine. - Bake to Perfection
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crisp. - Serve & Enjoy
Let the stuffing cool slightly before serving. It’s hearty, flavorful, and the perfect addition to any holiday feast!

Substitutions
- Baguette: Use sourdough, ciabatta, or cornbread for a different flavor and texture.
- Smoked Bacon: Swap with pancetta, turkey bacon, or smoked ham for a similar smoky note.
- Italian Sausage: Use chorizo, breakfast sausage, or a plant-based sausage alternative.
- Beer: Replace with chicken broth, vegetable stock, apple cider, or white wine.
- Butter: Substitute with olive oil, ghee, or plant-based butter for dairy-free options.
- Onions: Use shallots, leeks, or green onions for a milder flavor.
- Celery: Replace with fennel, diced zucchini, or green bell peppers for a similar crunch.

Variation: Cheesy Sausage Stuffing
Mix 1 cup of shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or Parmesan cheese into the breadcrumb mixture before baking. Top with an extra sprinkle of cheese for a golden, melty crust. Perfect for adding a rich, gooey twist to the classic recipe!

Storage
Store leftover sausage stuffing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, cover and warm in the oven at 350°F until heated through, or microwave in small portions. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
Top tips
- Toast the Bread: Lightly toast the breadcrumbs before using to enhance texture and absorb the flavors better.
- Don't Skip the Deglaze: Scraping up the browned bits with beer adds deep, smoky flavor to the dish.
- Taste Before Baking: Adjust seasoning to ensure a well-balanced flavor before the stuffing goes into the oven.

FAQs
Yes, but fresh breadcrumbs give the stuffing a better texture. If using store-bought, choose unseasoned crumbs and adjust liquid amounts to avoid sogginess.
You can use chicken broth, apple cider, or white wine as alternatives. Each adds a slightly different flavor profile but works wonderfully.
Absolutely! Assemble the stuffing without baking, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake just before serving for the best results.
