Instructions for Steak & Green Giant Veggies

  1. Bring to Room Temperature: Take the steak out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.
  2. Season Generously: Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove any moisture. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. The salt will help create a nice crust.
  3. Preheat Your Skillet: Place your skillet on the stove over high heat and let it get very hot. A well-heated skillet is key to achieving a perfect sear.
  4. Add Oil: Once the skillet is hot, add 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Swirl the oil to coat the bottom of the pan evenly.
  5. Sear the Steak: Carefully place the steak in the skillet. You should hear a loud sizzle. Let it cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes to develop a good sear. Avoid pressing down on the steak or moving it around, as this can interfere with the searing process.
  6. Flip and Sear the Other Side: Using tongs, flip the steak to the other side and cook for another 2-3 minutes. This will form a crust on both sides of the steak.
  7. Baste with Butter (Optional): If you want to add extra flavor, reduce the heat to medium and add a tablespoon of butter, along with a couple of garlic cloves and sprigs of fresh herbs. Tilt the skillet slightly and use a spoon to continuously baste the steak with the melted butter and aromatics for about 1-2 minutes.
  8. Rest the Steak: Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a juicier steak.
  9. Prepare our side dish: To the same skillet deglazing the pan with some butter before adding in the Green Giant veggies & cooking them on the stovetop following the package instructions.
  10. Serve: Plate the steak & Green Giant Veggies, top with freshly chopped chives & enjoy!

Top Tips for Success!

Ventilation: Cooking steak on high heat can produce smoke. Make sure your kitchen is well-ventilated or use an exhaust fan.

Avoid Overcrowding: If cooking multiple steaks, do so in batches to prevent steaming rather than searing.

Be Patient: Avoid flipping the steak too often; let it sit to develop a proper crust.
