Substitutions for this Easy Greek Chicken Bowl Recipe (with rice)

Boneless Chicken Thighs: Boneless skinless chicken breasts, Bone-in Chicken Thighs, Chicken Tenderloins and/or Turkey.

Beef Tallow: Substitute with olive oil or coconut oil for a flavorful cooking fat that complements the dish's ingredients, especially when cooking crispy potatoes.

Plain Greek Yogurt: Replace with coconut yogurt or dairy-free sour cream for a creamy texture, perfect for making creamy tzatziki.

Lemon: Use lime juice or apple cider vinegar to add acidity, especially when mixed with fresh tomatoes and herbs.

Oregano: Dried basil, thyme, or marjoram can provide similar herbaceous notes, adding depth of flavor to the dish, especially in combination with fresh parsley.

Salt: Sea salt, Himalayan salt, or kosher salt can season the dish to taste, enhancing the flavors of fresh veggies and fresh herbs.

Pepper: Black pepper, white pepper, or cayenne pepper can add a spicy kick, especially with red pepper.

Sweet Paprika: Smoked paprika or chili powder can provide a smoky flavor, especially when paired with sweet potatoes or crispy potatoes.

Garlic Powder: Fresh minced garlic is a perfect substitute for garlic powder, providing robust flavor, especially when combined with lots of garlic and chopped parsley.
Olive Oil: Avocado oil or grapeseed oil can replace olive oil for cooking or dressing, perfect for drizzling over fresh greens and veggies.

Storage for this Easy Greek Chicken Bowl Recipe (with rice)

To store your Greek Bowl leftovers, transfer them into an airtight or separate containers and refrigerate for up to 3-5 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 weeks.

To reheat, simply place the stored Chicken Greek Bowl in a microwave-safe large bowl or big bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring occasionally until warmed through. Alternatively, heat in a preheated oven at medium-high heat, 350°F (175°C) for approximately 10-15 minutes or add extra time if you want to.

3 Top Tips for Success

1. Marinate for Flavor: Let the chicken soak in the marinade for at least 30 minutes or, ideally, overnight for tastier results. Pricking the chicken with a fork before marinating helps the flavors penetrate better and results in so much flavor!

2. Cooking on Moderate Heat: Start cooking the chicken covered over medium heat for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat slightly to medium-low. This ensures the chicken cooks evenly without drying out.

3. Get Creative with Toppings: Offer a variety of toppings like cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and fresh dill. Encourage friends & family to customize their bowls with their favorite Mediterranean-inspired toppings for a personalized touch.
